Day of Caring and Sharing to be Celebrated

The United Way of Garrett County is planning the Sixth Annual Garrett County Day of Caring and Sharing.  Volunteers from around the county will meet at 8:00 AM on Friday, October 2, 2009 at the Oakland Firehall.  The event will begin with a continental breakfast.

Robin Murray, SVP and Director of Retail for First United Bank & Trust, is chairing the event.  This event has a two-fold purpose:  to celebrate our volunteer spirit and to assist United Way affiliate agencies by completing projects that require volunteer labor.   Ms. Murray stated, “Several of our community oriented businesses open their hearts and lend their muscles for just 4 hours that day assisting our non-profit organizations.  I invite you to join First United’s team and commitment to our community on October 2nd.   We care about making our community safer, stronger and a much better place to live.  We know you do as well.  Please join us!”

There is no registration fee for the event. All volunteers will receive a commemorative T-shirt, light breakfast and a Pizza lunch.

The United Way of Garrett County has worked hard to make the Day of Caring and Sharing an annual event that brings recognition and service to local charitable, non-profit agencies and organizations.  Businesses and employees are encouraged to participate in the event and can register for the event by calling Robin Murray at 301-533-2306 or United Way of Garrett County, toll free 877-597-2700.   A copy of the registration form can be obtained by clicking here and a list of the projects to be worked on can be found by clicking here.
